or Disable
How to disable automatic start in System Configuration Utility

run msconfig
Startup tab -> check or uncheck any items you want/do not want to start automatically
Get rid of what you do not need
Windows Vista makes automatically check and tries to predict what applications you
will need. This is of course not 100% correct so it's good to check manually installed
system applications and removed those you do not use.
Control Panel -> click Uninstall (Vista's Uninstall application). Alternatively
you can go to the Tasks panel on the left, click Turn Windows Features On/Off
Go through list of features - you can check if that futre is active in the system.
You need to make sure all Vista features you do not need are unchecked. You can
expand some of the features (with plus) to see their sub features.
Stop or remove services you do not need
Start -> type services.msc
